5th April 2017: Loughrigg Fell

Our first Wainwright as a family!  The D'Souza family of two adults, three kids and two dogs joined the Milton family of two adults and two kids for the Loughrigg Fell walk from Ambleside . Spectacular walk, great company, glorious weather - I guess it's all downhill from here. This was particularly nice as we were meeting the Milton's in Ambleside for a walk (they were on holiday here for a week), but we hadn't planned where.  So it was a bit of a luxury when we met Matt and he had a map and a route and a plan - we just had to follow.  Nice and easy start! Everyone enjoyed this walk - even the kids!  Ivy (our latest pup - follow her adventures here - or, probably don't...) is only 6 months old or so, but she loved it.  Took it completely in her stride.  Only 7 miles or so, but she has very short legs!  And obviously Frida loved it.  Mainly off lead too which was nice. Not sure what else to say.  Was a very gentle start.  Picn...

The Start

We recently moved to Lancaster, so are well placed to attempt all (ok, well, maybe not all) the Wainwrights. If we are going to walk some or all of the Wainwrights over the next couple of decades, I definitely want a record of it.  Hence the blog. We bought the map the other day and it turns out the walk we did on the 5th with the Milton gang was a Wainwright - so we are off and running.  I reckon each walk deserves it's own post, so let's leave this as a kick off post, and I'll do a post for that first (and hopefully not last!) Wainwright walk. And I always like to have at least one pic per post, so here is where we will be starting most of our walks from - our new Lancaster home - Dallas House. Very much loving living in Lancaster so far - such a vibrant little city and so close to coast, dales, lakes & wainwrights.....
